Bauchi: Governor Bala Mohammed Presents N465bn 2025 Appropriation Bill to Assembly

Governir Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has presented a proposed budget of N465,850,248,317 billion for 2025 to the House of Assembly Thursday for consideration and passage.
The proposed budget, tagged “budget of ‘Consolidation and Sustainable Development” is aimed at addressing socio-economic challenges and promoting sustainable development across the state.
Presenting the appropriation bill, the governor said that the budget’s contents align with current local, national, and global economic realities.
The Governor explained that N182,743,955,931.60 (39.3 percent) of the total budget was earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N282,341,322,385.52 of the total proposal has been earmarked for capital expenditure, representing(60.7 percent)
Governor Mohammed allocated to administrative sector, N69,941,674,429.65 while economic sector get N219,506,601,771.75 the sum of N9,538,142,748.76 was allocated to law and justice sector while social sector to get N166,098,829,366.96 which gave a total of N465,085, 248, 317.12″
He said the 2025 budget is 18 percent more than the ongoing 2024 approved budget to implement the new national minimum wage and contributory pension scheme.
He said that his administration would ensure completion of all the ongoing projects to open up the economy of the state.
Governor Mohammed said that inflation which pushes the prices up has also affected the projects and programmes of his government.
The Speaker, of the House Abubakar Yakubu Suleiman pledged the legislature’s commitment to consider the appropriation bill within the timeframe.
He commended the Governor for timely presentation of the document
“We urge heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to comply with our committees for defence. Let me assure that there will be sanctions for any infraction on the part of MDAs,” he said.
Suleiman thanked the Governor for consistently prioritizing the needs of the people through his policies and programmes.
He assured the Governor of the timely and speedy passage of the appropriation bill to enable the government to continue its laudable projects across the state.
The Speaker praised the strong working relationship between the executive and legislative arms, which has facilitated the swift passage of bills and policies that directly benefit the people.
