70-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping 10-Year-Old Girl in Bauchi

A 70-year-old man, identified as Hamza Yahaya of Magama Gumau in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has been arrested by the Police over the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the incident was reported to the Police on Friday, May 15, 2026, at about 9:30 p.m. by the victim’s father.
The complainant told the Police that earlier the same day, at about 4:00 p.m., the suspect allegedly lured the minor into his hideout within the community and sexually assaulted her.
The Police spokesperson stated that although the suspect denied the latest allegation during interrogation, he voluntarily confessed to previously assaulting the victim on three separate occasions at the same location.
SP Nafiu added that both the victim and the suspect were taken to the General Hospital in Toro for medical examination and treatment.
He further disclosed that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
