APC Youth Group Berates Maidoki For Defecting From APC
Our Editor
A political group in Kebbi State, the Kebbi APC Youth Vanguard (KAYVA) has dismissed as unconvincing the reasons advanced by Senator Garba Maidoki for his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking on behalf of the group, its leader, Comrade Adamu Ahmed, said Maidoki’s explanation for leaving the APC mirrors the same arguments he advanced when he earlier defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform on which he was elected to represent Kebbi South Senatorial District.
According to Ahmed, Maidoki had cited internal crises and alleged injustice within the PDP as justification for abandoning the party. He noted that the senator has once again relied on similar claims in explaining his latest political move.
The youth group described the repeated allegations as predictable and lacking credibility, arguing that the recurring pattern raises questions about Maidoki’s commitment to party building and institutional development.
“KAYVA believes Senator Maidoki has demonstrated a tendency to abandon political platforms at the first sign of disagreement rather than work towards resolving challenges from within,” Ahmed stated.
The group further alleged that Maidoki, who joined the APC about a year ago, expected to be given the party’s senatorial ticket on a platter of gold ahead of longstanding members who remained loyal during difficult periods.
Ahmed maintained the reason why he left, therefore, was because dedicated party members who stood by the APC through challenging times were afforded equal consideration during the Party primaries which he lost.
The group challenged the senator to tell the people of Kebbi South the truth about events leading to his exit from the APC, insisting that doing so would help save whatever is left of his credibility.
