Kirfi LGA Emerges Overall Winner At Bauchi 2025 Sports Festival

Kirfi local government area has emerged overall winners of the 2025 Bauchi State sports festival, with a total of 33 medals from different sporting events.
Addressing gathering during a closing ceremony of the fourth edition of the state festival, the state commissioner for youth and sports development, Alhaji Adamu Babayo Gabarin, said Kirfi secured 21 gold, four silver and eight bronze medals to retain its first position.

The commissioner, represented by the overseeing permanent secretary of the ministry of youth and sports development, Abdullahi Ibrahim, explained that Darazo local government came second with 13 golds, three silvers and nine bronzes, while Ningi local government occupied third position with eight gold, 12 silver and 18 bronze medals respectively.
Adamu Babayo Gabarin added that a total of 553 athletes from 12 local governments areas have participated in more than 10 different sporting events, and won a total of 450 medals both male and females.

He congratulated winners from all categories of events, and urged losers to put more efforts ahead of the subsequent edition of the annual state sports festival.
Gabarin commended participating athletes and their officials for exhibiting high sense of maturity, discipline and sportsmanship during the week long sports fiesta.

The commissioner thanked the state governor, Bala Muhammed, for supporting the ministry all the time and commended the 20 local governments of the state for their financial support and participation in the festival.
During the fourth edition of the Bauchi state sports festival, athletes have competed in athletics, volleyball, handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, football, kokawa (wrestling), Dambe (boxing), Langa (jumping with one leg) among others with an exhibition in gymnastics, cycling and arm wrestling.
