Bauchi Coalition Targets 10,000 Volunteers for Halliru Jika’s 2027 Guber Bid

From Paul Orude Bauchi
The Coalition of Concerned People of Bauchi State has announced plans to mobilise about 10,000 volunteers across the state to support the governorship ambition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Senator Halliru Dauda Jika, ahead of the 2027 election.
The coalition disclosed this on Friday, September 18, 2026, during a press conference addressed by its representative, Hon. Ahmed Yero, in Bauchi.
Yero said the mobilisation became necessary following the commencement of the 2027 electioneering season, urging members of the ADC and residents of Bauchi State to participate actively in the electoral process.
He called on youths, women, and men across the state to join the movement as volunteers and participate in various aspects of the campaign and electoral process.
According to him, Senator Jika is currently engaged in consultations and discussions with traditional and community leaders, women, youths and other stakeholders across the state ahead of the formal commencement of his campaign activities.
“Senator Halliru Jika is currently undergoing rigorous consultations and heart-to-heart engagements with the people, state elders, women and youth,” Yero said.
He added that the candidate would formally flag off his campaign activities in the coming weeks.
The coalition also appealed to the media to give adequate coverage to the campaign and help disseminate its message to the people of Bauchi State.
Yero urged voters to reject vote buying and exercise their franchise based on their assessment of the candidates and their programmes.
The coalition said Jika, if elected governor, would prioritise areas including security, education, healthcare, business development and the general welfare of residents.
It also said his proposed areas of concern would include the welfare of youths, women, widows and persons living with special needs.
Senator Halliru Dauda Jika is the ADC’s governorship candidate for Bauchi State in the 2027 election, with Sama’ila Mohammed Kabir as his running mate. The ADC formally unveiled its governorship candidates in September.
Jika previously represented Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2019 to 2023 and contested the Bauchi governorship election in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party before joining the ADC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the 2027 governorship and State House of Assembly elections for March 6, 2027.
