JUST IN: 2027: Atiku’s campaign convoy reportedly attacked in Kebbi

The campaign convoy of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has reportedly come under attack by suspected political thugs in Kebbi State.

The incident allegedly occurred on Thursday as the opposition party’s campaign team moved through the state for political engagements.

Reports from the campaign team indicated that the attackers blocked the convoy, hurled stones at vehicles and specifically targeted journalists and members of the media crew covering the activities.

Several media equipment, including cameras, video recording devices, tripods and other broadcasting tools, were reportedly vandalised during the attack.

The destruction of the equipment disrupted the media team’s activities and prevented it from continuing live coverage of the campaign.

The ADC campaign team condemned the incident, describing the attackers as sponsored political thugs and alleging that their actions were intended to intimidate supporters and prevent the media from documenting the campaign.

A member of the campaign team alleged that the attackers were more interested in destroying recording equipment than stealing valuables, suggesting that the media crew was deliberately targeted.

The party has expressed concern over the safety of its supporters and journalists, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
