APC Loyal Group Faults ADC Over Attack Allegation In Sokoto

The Sokoto State APC Youth Vanguard for Good Governance, a group loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, has described as unfair and misleading the allegations by the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) that its Sokoto governorship candidate, Munir Dan Iya, was attacked by the Sokoto Marshals.

Reacting on Saturday in a press statement, the spokesman of the group, Bello Ibrahim Sokoto, said the ADC-PCC rushed to politicise a routine security operation.

Murtala said the security architecture in Sokoto, including the Sokoto Marshall and the Sokoto Community Guard Corps, are currently being used for joint security searches across.

“Normally, the security including Sokoto Marshall and Sokoto Community Guard Corps are being used for security searches.

“They stopped the entourage of the governorship candidate for searching not to intimidate or attack them. It is a normal security search,” Ibrahim said.

He questioned the logic behind the intimidation claim, noting that the candidate has been moving freely without any harassment in town.

“The candidate has been moving freely in Sokoto town without any intimidation, why would they now allege he is being intimidated or attacked?

“If it was truly intimidation, he would not have enjoyed free movement all this while,” he added.

He urged the ADC-PCC to withdraw its 24-hour ultimatum to security agencies and allow them to do their job of protecting lives and property, rather than turning every checkpoint into a political issue.
