Taraba State University Graduates 17, 759 Students In Combined Convocation

The Vice Chancellor of the Taraba state University, Professor Sunday Bako on Saturday disclosed that the University has graduated a total of 17, 757 for four academic sessions at its combined convocation.

Professor Bako, who stated during the convocation ceremony upcoming revealed that 3,084 students graduate from the 2021–2022 session, 4,609 from 2022–2023, 4,666 from 2023–2024 and 5,402 from 2024–2025 respectively.

The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the combined convocation produced 74 first-class graduates from various departments of the University.

Giving the breakdown, he disclosed that the 2021–2022 session had 22 first-class graduates, 2022–2023 had 25, 2023–2024 had 15, while 2024–2025 produced 12.

He stressed that the overall best graduating students for the different sessions came from the Faculty of Science, including a student from the Department of Botany for the 2021–2022 session.

Professor Bako noted that the University secured accreditation of all 72 of its academic programmes from National University Commission (NUC).

He highlighted that the goal followed sustained efforts by the University to address accreditation challenges.

He stressed that accreditation was central to the credibility, development and growth of any institution in Nigeria.

According to him, one of the programmes receiving particular attention was Mining and Mineral Processing, stressing that the Taraba state government had shown strong interest in the programme and supported efforts to improve its infrastructure.

“Our administration had recorded improvements in power and energy infrastructure, physical infrastructure, student accommodation and other facilities.

A 700-capacity multipurpose theatre and a female hostel was commissioned on Saturday by His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas as parts of the ceremony.

The Vice Chancellor expressed hope that more infrastructure projects would be supported by the state government for the University.  

He also acknowledged the support of the North East Development Commission, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria and other partners for various interventions and projects at the university.

“The University had also made progress in technology and internet services, with students and staff now able to access Wi-Fi services across many parts of the campus.

The University had also encouraged researchers and innovators to seek opportunities and interventions beyond the institution, including international support” maintained.
