2027: ADC Declares Jika Unopposed Bauchi Guber Flagbearer

From Paul Orude Bauchi
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially endorsed former Senator Halliru Dauda Jika as its sole governorship candidate for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.
The affirmation exercise was announced by Chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee for the primaries, retired General Ishaya Bauka.
Bauka said the process was conducted in line with party guidelines and democratic procedures.
He explained that the committee was tasked with overseeing the affirmation of Jika and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 polls.
According to him, all three senatorial candidates of the party emerged through consensus and were affirmed unopposed.
In his acceptance remarks, Senator Halliru Jika thanked party leaders, delegates and supporters for the trust placed in him, assuring them of his commitment to delivering victory for the ADC in Bauchi State.
He expressed confidence that the party would take over leadership in the state in 2027, stressing that the ADC had assembled a strong and united political structure capable of winning the elections.
Jika, who represented Bauchi Central Senatorial District from 2019 to 2023, previously contested the 2023 governorship election on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) before defecting to the ADC.
Also speaking, the Bauchi State chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Shu’aibu Abdullahi Dankama, described Jika as a widely accepted and experienced politician whose endorsement was unanimously supported by party stakeholders.
Among the senatorial candidates affirmed by the party are Hon. Garba Dahiru Salanke for Bauchi South, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi for Bauchi Central, and Senator Nazif Gamawa for Bauchi North Senatorial Districts.
