Goje, Dankwambo Absent as Gombe APC Inaugurates 666-Member Campaign Councils

From David Omokuvie
Former Gombe State governors Danjuma Goje and Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo were absent on Thursday as Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Advisory and Campaign Councils ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The two former governors were listed among the patrons and members of the councils, which have a combined membership of 666.
According to the lists released by the party, Dankwambo’s name appeared at number seven on the campaign council and number six on the advisory council. Goje was listed at number six on the campaign council and number five on the advisory council.
However, their absence from the inauguration attracted attention, particularly because of their political standing in the state.
In a report by Periscope Nigeria, Dankwambo, who represents Gombe North Senatorial District in the Senate and remains a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure, reportedly said he was unaware of his inclusion when contacted by the publication.
Goje, who represents Gombe Central Senatorial District, was also absent from the event.
The inauguration took place on Thursday evening at the International Conference Centre, Gombe, where Governor Yahaya urged party members to set aside their differences and work together to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
He charged members of the councils to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates, including those contesting for the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.
The governor said party members needed to close ranks, reconcile disagreements and strengthen their grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Mohammed Dantata Ndus, called on members to take responsibility for mobilising support for the party, expressing confidence in the performance of the Yahaya administration.
The party’s governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, pledged to sustain the achievements of the current administration, promising to prioritise projects that would improve the living conditions of residents.
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Usman Bayero Nafada, also urged council members to remain committed to the party’s electoral objectives and work towards securing victory in 2027.
The inauguration marks the beginning of the APC’s state-level campaign coordination and mobilisation efforts ahead of the general elections.
