The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Bauchi State Directorate, will on Thursday, April 30, 2026, host a Security Summit aimed at strengthening collaboration between youths and security agencies to tackle insecurity in the state.

The summit, themed “Youths and Security Agencies Strategic Dialogue Towards Curbing Insecurity in Bauchi State,” was announced during a pre-summit meeting held on Wednesday at the Federal Secretariat, Bauchi.

Speaking at the event, the State Director of NOA, Alhaji Nasiru Mahe, represented by Adamu Umar Sarkinyara, Deputy Director and Head of Community Outreach and Development, said the summit will be held at the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre, Bauchi.

Mahe said the summit is designed to promote peacebuilding and foster stronger ties between young people, government institutions, and security stakeholders.

He disclosed that the Director-General of NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu, will deliver the keynote address, while the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, is expected to declare the summit open.

Mahe added that highlights of the event will include the inauguration of 200 Youth Peace Ambassadors and the signing of the Bauchi Youth-Security Social Contract, a public commitment involving NYCN, the Commissioner of Police, Brigade Commander, Emir of Bauchi, BACYWORD, and other stakeholders.

Also speaking, Almustapha Kasim Gital, National Deputy Secretary General of NYCN said the summit would provide a platform for youths and security agencies to engage in strategic dialogue on tackling insecurity in Bauchi State.

Gital explained that the initiative seeks to examine the root causes of insecurity and develop practical, community-driven solutions.

“Security remains a fundamental pillar for sustainable development, peace, and societal progress. In recent times, the challenges of insecurity have continued to demand collective action, strategic thinking, and inclusive engagement of all stakeholders, particularly the youth who constitute a significant proportion of our population,” he stated.

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his commitment to peace and security in Bauchi state.

“Security is not the responsibility of the government alone; it is a collective duty that requires the active participation of every citizen,” he said.

He added that when young people are engaged, empowered, and included, they become powerful agents of peace rather than instruments of conflict.
