“I Have Not Forgotten Anything in Government House, I am Coming Back to Improve Lives” – MA Abubakar Tackles Critics
By Paul Orude, Bauchi
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN), has said that his decision to seek a return to Government House is driven by his desire to improve the living standards of the people of the state.
Abubakar stated this on Saturday while commissioning the new office of the Salisiyyah Amana Support Groups for MA Abubakar (SAN) in Bauchi.
Responding to critics who have questioned his decision to contest the governorship election again after serving one term as governor, the APC flagbearer said he was not returning because he had unfinished personal business in Government House but because he still had a vision for the development of Bauchi State.
“Some people ask me what I have forgotten in Government House that has made me seek a return. My answer is that I have not forgotten anything there. However, I still have the good people of Bauchi State in mind,” he said.
According to him, there are several areas where the welfare of the people can be improved, adding that his previous experience in office has better prepared him to address the challenges facing the state.
“There are certain things that need to be done to uplift the living standards of the people of Bauchi State, and I have learned how best to do them. That is why I am contesting again,” he stated.
Abubakar noted that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria permits him to seek a second term in office, stressing that his ambition is rooted in his commitment to serve the people.
“I am protected by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. My reason for contesting is to contribute to the growth and development of Bauchi State and improve the lives of its people,” he said.
The former governor pledged that if elected, his administration would pursue policies that promote inclusive development and ensure that every citizen benefits, regardless of ethnic, religious or political affiliation.
“We will uplift the standard of living of our people, improve Bauchi State as a whole and ensure justice and fairness for every citizen irrespective of tribe or religion,” he added.Earlier, Abubakar commended the leadership of the Salisiyyah Movement for its support and dedication, describing the group’s newly commissioned office as a demonstration of commitment to his political vision and aspirations for the state.
