The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Bauchi State, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, has donated N21 million to support victims of the recent flood disaster in Bara Community, Kirfi Local Government Area, and windstorm victims in Shira Local Government Area of the state.

Adamu made the donations during separate visits to the affected communities, where he expressed sympathy and solidarity with residents who suffered losses as a result of the natural disasters.

In Bara Community, Kirfi Local Government Area, a devastating flood triggered by torrential rainfall swept through the town, claiming the lives of a grandmother, Aishatu Sagir, and her granddaughter, Rahama Sagir. The flood also destroyed more than 360 houses, damaged walls and farmlands, killed livestock, and displaced hundreds of residents, many of whom are now taking shelter in mosques and schools.

During his sympathy visit, Dr. Yakubu Adamu described the deaths of the two victims as heartbreaking and announced a donation of ₦10 million to support flood victims and an additional ₦1 million to the bereaved families.

He prayed to Allah to ease the suffering of the affected residents, reward their patience and faith, and grant forgiveness to the deceased.

The District Head of Bara, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi Bara, expressed gratitude to the APM governorship candidate on behalf of the community, noting that the timely intervention would help alleviate the hardships caused by the disaster.

Residents of Bara also commended Adamu for the visit, describing his prompt response as a demonstration of compassionate, responsible, and proactive leadership during a time of crisis.

In Shira Local Government Area, Dr. Yakubu Adamu donated N10 million as relief assistance to families affected by a heavy windstorm that destroyed homes and properties in the area.

The intervention targets affected communities, including Dango, Disina, and Zubo, where many families were left in distress following the destruction of their homes and means of livelihood.

Dr. Adamu expressed shock over the incident and said he shared in the pain of the affected communities, urging them to accept the situation as the will of Allah.

He stated that leadership is not only about words but also about showing genuine concern, taking action, and responding to the needs of the people when they need it most.

According to him, natural disasters such as floods and windstorms often leave lasting hardships on communities, and he called on leaders, organizations, and individuals to join hands in supporting victims and easing their suffering.

Adamu assured the affected families that they were not alone and explained that the financial assistance was intended to provide urgent relief and help victims begin the process of recovery.

He also called on relevant authorities, organizations, and well-meaning individuals to extend support to victims of natural disasters, stressing that collective efforts are essential for rebuilding affected communities.

Residents of the affected communities appreciated the gesture, describing it as timely and a reflection of compassion toward people facing hardship.

They said the donation demonstrated kindness, empathy, and responsible leadership, adding that the assistance would go a long way in easing their suffering and helping them rebuild their homes and lives.
