Eid el -fitr: Labour Leaders Applaud Bala Mohammed Over Payment of Steyr Workers’ Entitlements

Chairman of the Steel and Engineering Workers Union of Nigeria (SEWUN), Comrade Sani Garba, alongside Comrade Okere Emmanuel, Chairman of AUTOBATE, have extended warm Eid Mubarak greetings to the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, in appreciation of his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

In a joint message, the labour leaders commended the governor for the successful settlement of backlog salaries and death benefits owed to workers of the defunct Steyr Nigeria Limited.

They described the gesture as timely and humane, noting that it has brought relief to many families who had endured years of hardship.

The union leaders further lauded Governor Mohammed’s promise to reengage existing staff as part of plans to revitalize the ailing Steyr company.

According to them, the move demonstrates a strong commitment to industrial growth, job creation, and economic recovery in the state.

They expressed optimism that the revitalization process would restore the company’s lost glory and provide sustainable employment opportunities for skilled workers.

While wishing the governor continued success, the labour leaders urged him to sustain the momentum in addressing workers’ concerns and strengthening Bauchi State’s industrial base.
