IWD: Ibrahim Kashim Applauds Women’s Resilience, Role in Democracy

From Paul Orude Bauchi
A Governorship Aspirant in Bauchi State, Barr. Ibrahim Kashim, has commended Nigerian women for their resilience, productivity, and immense contributions to the country’s democratic process, calling for greater respect for their rights and improved welfare to drive sustainable development.
Kashim made the remark in a statement on Sunday to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day, noting that women possess remarkable strength and continue to make invaluable contributions to the development of Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole.
The former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections said women have consistently played significant roles in shaping communities and advancing national development.
He noted that from agriculture and commerce to education, public service, and the home front where societal values are nurtured, women remain central to progress, stability, and moral guidance.
“Women continue to stand as pillars of progress and stability. Their sacrifices, dedication, and commitment are essential to the growth and prosperity of our society,” he said.
Kashim added that as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections, women will remain a critical force in determining the future of Nigeria’s democracy due to their numerical strength and influence in the electoral process.
He therefore urged women to uphold the sanctity of democracy by resisting the temptation to sell their votes, stressing the need to support leaders who demonstrate competence, integrity, and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.
According to him, the ballot represents a sacred responsibility which, when used wisely, can serve as a powerful instrument for building a just, inclusive, and prosperous society.
Kashim further reaffirmed his commitment to promoting leadership built on integrity, service to the people, and the empowerment of communities, particularly women.
He also expressed hope for a future where women are not only acknowledged for their contributions but are also given the necessary support and opportunities to thrive and assume leadership roles across all sectors.
Kashim congratulated the women of Bauchi State and Nigeria on the occasion of International Women’s Day and encouraged them to remain steadfast as champions of progress, dignity, and responsible citizenship for the benefit of present and future generations.
