Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Recruits 130 Staff

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has recruited 130 academic and non-academic staff to strengthen its manpower for improved productivity and efficient service delivery.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent in his office.

He said that beyond the industrial harmony enjoyed since his assumption of office, the management has established new directorates and appointed directors to oversee them.

According to him, upon assumption of duty, he approved the payment of backlog allowances owed to security personnel and cleaners to ease economic hardship and motivate them to give their best.

Usman added that his administration has sustained the regular payment of salaries and allowances for security personnel and cleaners.

Among other achievements, the Rector revealed that the Polytechnic has secured 100 per cent accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education for all programmes offered by the institution.

He further stated that his administration introduced and secured full accreditation for new programmes, including National Diploma (ND) in Urban and Regional Planning; Higher National Diploma (HND) in Crime Management; HND Animal Production; HND Fisheries; ND Procurement and Supply Chain Management; ND Organic Agriculture; and HND Cyber Security.

Usman also disclosed that construction of student hostels has commenced, with the male hostel being executed under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement, while the female hostel is funded through a Federal Government special intervention.

Other infrastructural achievements under his tenure include the installation of solar street lights across the campus, completion of the Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) Complex, inauguration of the NUD building expansion, construction of the Environmental Technology Complex, and completion of the second gate, School of Environmental road and drainage.

To further boost human capital development, the Rector said the Polytechnic has introduced a staff welfare package, including a soft loan scheme, established Career Services, strengthened the Office of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, and appointed an Acting Managing Director for the Polytechnic Consultancy Services
