… Reaffirms Commitment to Co-Education and Religious Tolerance

From Umar Usman Duguri

The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has debunked a circular circulating in the social media that ted that the institution has banned male and female students from standing together during Ramadan”, describing it as false, “malicious and misleading”

The rebuttal was contained in a press release signed by Tanimu Ibrahim Gambo, from Public Relations on behalf of the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, issued to our correspondent today.

According to the release, the circular made spurious clams regarding restrictions on male and female students during the Ramadan, reiterating such as “entirely false. Baseless” , adding that the circular did not emanate from Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.

The management of the polytechnic while setting the record straight, noted that the institution is a co-educational federal tertiary institution that recognizes and permits legitimate academic and social interactions among students within the bounds of decency and institutional regulations.

“The polytechnic is a multi-religious, multi-cultural, and cosmopolitan institution, with students from all parts of Nigeria and beyond,” it added, “It does not promote or enforce any mono religious orientation to its policies of operation”

It disclosed that the Registrar, or any officer of the Polytechnic, could not and would not issue such an irrational and unfounded directive.

“The general public, parents, guardians, students, alumni, and stakeholders ae hereby advised to disregard the said circular it its entirety, as it is clearly the handiwork of mischief-makers bent on tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of the Polytechnic,” it stated.

“Members of the public are encouraged to always verify information concerning the Polytechnic through its official communication channels, please”

Meanwhile, while reacting to the circulation of the circular on social media, stakeholders within the community have described it as a wicked attempt to discredit the excellent performance of the Polytechnic management under the leadership of the incumbent Rector Sani Usman

They eulogizd the Rector saying among other good things, , he ensured adequate security of students and staffs welfare and ensured adequate accreditation of vital courses in compliance with the regulatory body.

They also praised Usman for elevating the the institution in many remarkable ways and Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has zero tolerance for corruption in all facet “We know that the management is working assiduously in complementing federal government policies in setting good example,” one stakeholder who pleaded anonymity stated
