Kashim Resigns From PDP, May Run For Bauchi Guber Election

From Sadiya Musa, Bauchi
Former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government and Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim has resigned from the party.
Kashim made this known, in a resignation letter dated July 21 made available to journalists on Monday.
He did not state the reason for his resignation from the opposition party.
The former SSG extended gratitude to the leadership of his ward for giving him the opportunity to be a member of PDP, and subsequent nomination as the flag bearer of the party to contest the 2023 Gubernatorial election in the state.
It will be recalled that a few months to the 2023 governorship election, Kaahim stepped down his candidacy for Governor Bala Mohammed who contested the presidential ticket of the Party.
Kashim campaigned extensively across the state with Governor Mohammed, giving him unalloyed support.
“Even as I discharged my responsibilities as the Secretary to the State Government, to ensure, against all odds and historical challenges of second term candidates winning in the local government, that we delivered and won in virtually all wards,” he said.
“Be that as it may, after due consideration. I wish to formally notify you that I have, effective the date of this letter, resigned my membership of the PDP and hope to explore other avenues of seeking the mandate of our people to serve them with the same commitment, passion, honesty of purpose, trustworthiness and above all fear of Allah SWT,” h
Kashim resigned as SSG in January 2025, saying that he was instructed by the Governor to tender his resignation.
There are speculations that he will contest the governorship election in 2026 on the platform of another party following his surprised resignation from the PDP. . He is yet to officially announce his new party though
