The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Bauchi State, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, has launched a N200 million bursary programme to support students of Bauchi State origin studying in tertiary institutions across the country.

According to the APM Governorship Campaign Council, the bursary fund is being financed from part of financial contributions donated to the candidate by friends and well-wishers in support of his campaign.

The Director-General of the campaign council, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam, said Dr. Adamu personally decided to redirect a portion of the campaign donations towards supporting students and easing the financial burden associated with tertiary education.

He said the initiative was part of the candidate’s broader commitment to human capital development, particularly among young people in Bauchi State.

Akuyam said the candidate’s proposed interventions would also focus on areas including entrepreneurship, agriculture, technology, trade and artisanship, as part of efforts to create opportunities for youths and other residents of the state.

He explained that the bursary was designed to provide financial assistance to students and encourage them to remain focused on their studies despite the economic challenges confronting many families.

The campaign council also acknowledged the efforts of the Bauchi State Government under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, particularly in the areas of education, student welfare and economic empowerment.

According to the statement, the APM candidate’s initiative complements existing government interventions, including the Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP) and the payment of scholarships to Bauchi students in tertiary institutions.

The campaign council invited interested students of Bauchi State origin studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria to apply for the bursary through the designated online platform.

The application portal is available at kitescholar.ng/en/scholarships/.

The campaign council reiterated Dr. Adamu’s commitment to supporting education and improving opportunities for young people across Bauchi State.
