Foundation Trains 100,000 Youths on skills acquisition
From Paul Orude Bauchi
Khamzid Charity Foundation has explained its readiness to empower 100,000 women and youths in Nigeria with the aim of reducing poverty and fostering self-reliance.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Khalil Ibrahim Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, said this at the inauguration of officials and 20 local government coordinators of Tijjaniyya Youth Economic Development Initiative TYEDI,at Dark real event centre in Bauchi, He said that the initiative as a long-overdue awakening for a community of great spiritual wealth.
Sheik Khalil said part of programme 20,000 beneficiaries were targeted in Bauchi State
“We are a people rich in faith, discipline and numbers, yet for too long we have been left behind in worldly affairs, not because we lack ability, but because we had not looked beyond, nor emphasised the balance between this life and the next,” he said
“TYEDI exists to close that gap: to match our wealth of faith with a wealth of capability.”
He said the programme was a trust the Foundation owed to its youth and to the legacy of the community’s forebears.
“Our fathers gave us knowledge, character and unity. It falls to us to add to that inheritance the means of livelihood, so that our young people are strong in this life as they are rich in the next. A believer whose hand is productive is a believer whose faith is shielded from need,” he stated.
The Chairman advised the community to see the initiative not as charity received, but as a duty embraced. “Let no youth among us sit idle while opportunity is built around him. And let no one who has been empowered keep the light to himself, for the one who lifts another lifts a whole household. This is how we were taught, and this is how we shall rise, together.”
The Programme Coordinator of the foundation,. Muhammad Abubakar Dahir, set out its scale and method. He said TYEDI would pursue two goals in tandem: to equip 100,000 youths with market-ready trades, and to weave from them and their circles an organised, civic-ready community of one million members, people who are skilled, self-reliant and active in the life of their nation.
Coordinator explained that under the Programme. “We train a young person, we help them start, we connect them to a network of their peers, and we stay with them until they are established. When you empower one, you touch the ten who stand behind them. That is how a community of one million is not a slogan, but an arithmetic.”
“beneficiaries are trained across 22 market-relevant skills spanning agriculture and livestock, creative and digital trades, vocational and technical work, home production, and finance and trade. Each is supported with a starter pack and continuous mentorship along a structured pathway that carries them from training to mastery, enterprise and, finally, an established livelihood. Every participant, the Foundation said, is registered through a disciplined verification process that records them down to their ward and polling unit, a system it says guarantees that empowerment reaches real, identifiable members of the community and not names on paper.”
Dahir said Bauchi was chosen to lead because it is the founding home of the community and the ground where its structures run deepest. “What we prove in Bauchi becomes the model every other state will follow,” he said. From this base, the programme is designed to reach across the three northern geopolitical zones, the North-East, North-West and North-Central.
He described the inducted coordinators, as the spine of the entire effort. “Each of you now carries the trust of thousands. Through you this promise reaches the wards, the villages and the homes. Guard that trust with your integrity, and history will record that this movement began in your hands.”
The Coordinator used call on governments at all levels, development partners, philanthropists and people of goodwill to support the initiative, which he described as the region’s youthful energy as its greatest untapped asset.
“A generation that is skilled and organised is a generation that builds, not one that waits, and not one that can be misled,”
“What we are raising here is a firewall against idleness and a foundation for prosperity. It is a gift not to one community alone, but to the peace and progress of the entire nation.”
The empowerment will be through vocational training and skills acquisition schemes. the initiative focuses on
