The football world has continued to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo following his announcement of retirement from international football after an illustrious 23-year career with Portugal.

Ronaldo’s former teammates, football stars and clubs have taken to social media to pay tribute to the Portuguese forward, acknowledging his remarkable achievements and influence on the game.

Portugal captain Bruno Fernandes described sharing the national team dressing room with Ronaldo as a special privilege, recalling how he grew up admiring the football icon.

“Thank you for the inspiration. It was a privilege to share great moments for our team with my childhood idol,” Fernandes wrote.

Another Portugal teammate, Diogo Dalot, praised Ronaldo for inspiring generations and leading the country to memorable victories.

“You made us dream, you made us believe, you made us win. Thank you, idol,” Dalot said.

Brazilian superstar Neymar also paid tribute to Ronaldo, simply describing him as a “Legend”.

Former Portugal defender Pepe, who shared several years with Ronaldo in the national team, said their journey together went beyond football.

“It was more than just football. Thank you for everything, Cris,” Pepe wrote.

Ronaldo’s former clubs also joined the tributes, with Manchester United congratulating him on an incredible international career and wishing him well in retirement.

Italian giants Juventus equally acknowledged his remarkable journey with Portugal, while Sporting CP, where he began his professional career, thanked him for his contributions to the nation.

“Thank you for everything you did for our nation. Forever in the history of Portugal,” Sporting CP stated.

The tributes reflect Ronaldo’s enormous influence on world football and the legacy he leaves behind after more than two decades of representing his country.
