Anti Illegal Mining Task Force arrests 20 suspected illegal miners in Taraba

In an effort to curb the menace of illegal mining, the Anti-Illegal Mining Task Force weekend arrested twenty suspected illegal miners in Taraba state.
The Chairman of the Anti illegal mining Task Force, SP Emmanuel Jamu while speaking to journalists in Jalingo said while acting on credible intelligence, the operatives apprehended the suspects while they were proceeding to an illegal mining site located in Taraba State.
“Under my watch, our operatives has successfully intercepted and arrested twenty (20) suspected illegal miners.
They were arrested following a credible intelligence while they were proceeding to an illegal mining site” he said.
He highlighted that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were from Zamfara state.
He informed they traveled to Taraba to carry out unauthorized mining operations within the state.
He confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be handed over to the Taraba state Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He stressed that the Items recovered from the suspects are being documented as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Task Force Commander reiterated the commitment of the operatives to rid the state of all forms of illegal mining activities.
He warned that anyone found engaging in such unlawful acts would face the law of the land.
He urged members of the public to continue to dish out useful information that would assist security agencies in protecting the state’s natural resources.
