Paul Orude
A major contender for the Bauchi Federal Constituency seat, Hon. Salisu Sabo (Salisuya), has urged the APC electoral committee to declare him winner of the recently concluded House of Representatives primary, insisting he defeated other aspirants including Idris Isa Yuguda, Engr. Abdullahi Sirajo Jibril, Hon. Salisu Sabi, and Hon. Badi’yatu Inuwa.
bo said he was confident of victory, claiming he won in almost all wards and collation centres, though official results are yet to be announced.
He alleged delays and lapses in the conduct of the exercise but expressed optimism that the process reflected the will of the delegates
He made the remarks while speaking with journalist in Bauchi after a victory rally his team organised to appreciate his supporters, where he warned the party against declaring any other aspirant winner.
According to him, his support base was strengthened by years of humanitarian work through his foundation, including scholarships, healthcare support, water provision, job creation, and skills acquisition programmes.
Sabo also claimed strong grassroots presence compared to other aspirants, saying some lacked recent engagement in the constituency, while others relied on political family influence.
He added that he maintained close ties with party executives and supported party registration and mobilisation efforts.
He warned that imposing another candidate could cost the APC the general election, citing past cases where unpopular candidates lost while defectors won due to grassroots support.
Reaffirming his political background, Sabo described himself as a founding member of the APC, recalling his role in the party’s formation, support for elections, and contributions to the establishment of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
The Electoral Committee of the party is yet to declare the reaults for the APC House of Representives for the 12 federal constituencies in the state at the time of this report
