I Will Defeat Gov Kefas if APC Conducts free, Fair Primaries in Taraba- Former Minister of Power
By Andrew Ojih, Jalingo.
The Former Minister of Power, Engr Sale Mamman on Monday said he will defeat governor Agbu Kefas if the Taraba state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (Apc) conduct free and fair primaries that would produce a candidate for the party come 2027.
Mamman, who stated this while answering questions from newsmen in Jalingo lamented that Taraba state is in dear need of a leader who genuinely cares and know the problems confronting the state.
He hinted that the decision of Apc in the state to rule out granting automatic ticket to members of the party seeking elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections would assist the party not to violate both the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
“We are happy that the Apc has declared that aspirants must test their popularity through either the direct primary system or a consensus arrangement.
And I am Insha Allah telling Tarabans today that if it is through popularity or either the direct primary system or a consensus arrangement, I will get the Taraba Apc governorship ticket” he noted.
Mamman who denied claims that he was planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) if he failed to secure ticket in the Apc clearified that he remained a member of the All Progressives Congress (Apc).
“Let me tell you, I have laboured for the Apc, before the coming of other parties that later metamorphosed to the Apc, I single handedly brought CPC to Taraba state and served as chairman of the party.
How can I run out a house I laboured to build, beside those who came to join us are not known in the party” he added.
He stressed that the push for automatic tickets by some individuals and party loyalists is not recognised within the APC.
