Alh. Kasimu Salihu, the Registrar, Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has called on the newly matriculated students of the institution to guard their admission carefully and treat it like a valuable gift.
Salihu stated this in Bauchi on Saturday during the 2026 matriculation ceremony of the institution for the newly admitted students.
Salihu, who urged the students not to let anything take their admission away from them, also advised the students to study hard so as to become successful in their academic careers.
“Knowledge is power, use it to succeed. Also, make friends and interact with others. Join clubs that are legal and registered by the Students Affairs Division.
“Talk to your classmates and teachers. This will help you learn more and feel at home here.
“Stay away from bad habits. Do not cheat in examinations. Say no to drugs and cultism. Our Polytechnic does not allow these things at all and if you follow the rules, you will go far,” he said.
Also speaking, Alh. Sani Usman, the Rector of the Polytechnic said that in line with the international best practices, the institution installed CCTV cameras in most examination halls to uphold academic integrity and prevent examination misconduct.
This measure, he said, reflects the institution’s resolve to maintain the highest standards of ethics and fairness in its assessment processes.
He further explained that the Polytechnic had taken bold steps to step up to the challenge of time by establishing a Centre for Oil and Gas, ICT, Geospatial Centre and appointed capable hands to man them, in addition to the ones already established earlier.
According to him, 5,196 students consisting of 2,795 for National Diploma (ND) and 2,401 for Higher National Diploma (HND) were matriculated during the 2026 matriculation ceremony.
“As we embark on this new academic session, I urge our students to embrace the opportunities available here with enthusiasm and dedication.
“Your time here is a precious opportunity to grow, learn, and develop. Make the most of it by being diligent in your studies, participating in extracurricular activities, and contributing positively to our community,” said the Rector.
