Akuyam Hails Bala’s Vision for Bauchi
From Umar Usman Duguri
Hon. Mohamed Babayo Akuyam, member representing Akuyam Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for Governor Bala Mohammed, describing him as a visionary leader whose achievements will be fully appreciated by citizens in years to come.
Akuyam, a former Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and one of the longest-serving and most experienced legislators in the chamber, said the current administration is consolidating on past gains while laying a solid foundation for sustainable development in the state.
He noted that although the impact of Governor Bala Mohammed’s policies may not be fully appreciated immediately, history would be kind to his administration due to its far-reaching reforms and people-oriented programmes.
The lawmaker, who is widely respected among his colleagues for his legislative experience and mentorship, stated that members of the Assembly often rely on his guidance in navigating complex legislative responsibilities.
Akuyam, a strong adherent of the “Kaura” philosophy of leadership, emphasized that the governor’s development blueprint has brought significant improvements across critical sectors, particularly in infrastructure, education, and governance.
Providing context on the state’s development trajectory, he recalled that the administration of former Governor Isa Yuguda laid important groundwork in areas such as road construction, healthcare expansion, and economic reforms, which have been built upon by successive governments.
According to him, the current administration has not only sustained these gains but has expanded them through bold initiatives, including the establishment of the Bauchi State Oil and Gas Academy in Alkaleri—an idea he personally championed to enhance human capital development and create opportunities for youths in the energy sector.
Akuyam also highlighted his role in promoting quality education in the state, noting that he spearheaded efforts to eliminate illegal and unaccredited institutions operating under the guise of awarding certificates. This, he said, was part of deliberate measures to sanitize the education sector and restore public confidence.
He further pointed out that during his tenure as Chairman of key legislative committees, particularly in the education sector, he ensured improved funding and oversight of institutions across the state, contributing to better standards and service delivery.
Reaffirming his loyalty, Akuyam described himself as a committed supporter of Governor Bala Mohammed and the People’s Democratic Party, stressing that the administration’s “My Bauchi Project” reflects a clear vision for inclusive growth and development.
He expressed confidence that the governor’s relentless pursuit of progress, coupled with strategic policy implementation, would continue to reposition Bauchi State for greater prosperity.
