Soro Approves Payment of NECO Fees for 101 Gifted Students

Paul Orude
The Member representing Darazo–Ganjuwa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State in the House of Representatives, Mansur Manu Soro, has directed the immediate payment of the 2026 examination fees for 101 SS3 students of the constituency’s Gifted Secondary Schools.
The beneficiaries are drawn from the Gifted Secondary Schools located in Darazo, Soro, Sade, and Kafin Madaki.
The directive follows the successful conduct of a mock examination held penultimate week in the schools, where 101 students qualified for sponsorship after passing the test.
The tuition-free merit schools were established in 2021 by Rep. Soro’s office alongside the Special Primary School, Lanzai, as part of efforts to improve access to quality education in the constituency.
According to the lawmaker, the initiative has become a model of effective stakeholder collaboration aimed at improving basic and secondary educational outcomes in Nigeria.
In addition to providing tuition-free education, the programme also includes the distribution of free school kits to students, an intervention that has been implemented consistently for the past six years.
Rep. Soro reaffirmed his commitment to investing in education, describing it as a critical pathway to empowering young people and strengthening the future of the constituency.
