Bauchi: Police Uncover 387 Blocks of Suspected Caniva Sativa During Car Accident

The Bauchi State Police Command is currently conducting a thorough investigation into a motor vehicle accident that took place on October 4, 2025, at about 11:30 AM in Wom Village, Toro LGA, Bauchi State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)   of the state command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed that the incident involved two Toyota Corolla vehicles.

|Initial reports from eyewitnesses and preliminary investigations indicate that the first vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC-459LF, was operated by Ali Muhammad, a 45-year-old resident of Nabardo Village,” Wakil stated.

“He was transporting the District Head of Nabardo, Suleiman Bala Suleiman, aged 65, along with his family members as they travelled from Bauchi Metro to Nabardo Village.

“The second vehicle, another white Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA-155GW, was driven by an individual yet to be identified, who was travelling from Jos, Plateau State, towards Bauchi.

“It is reported that this driver attempted to overtake other vehicles without exercising adequate caution, resulting in a head-on collision with the first vehicle.

“The occupants of both vehicles sustained varying degrees of injuries and were promptly transported to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical care.

“The District Head suffered a fracture in his left leg and is currently receiving treatment there, while other victims are also being treated, and some have since been discharged.

“In the aftermath of the incident, during the search at the scene, the detectives recovered several items in the damaged Toyota Corolla vehicle with registration number Abuja GWA-155GW, including, 387 blocks of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa”

The PPRO disclosed that other items recovered include one black travel bag containing personal effects, two polyethene bags with personal items, one black Tecno phone without a SIM card, a damaged Toyota Corolla (Abuja GWA-155GW) without keys and a national driver’s license and motor vehicle documents.

These items had been initially forwarded to the State Investigation Department (S.I.D.) of the Bauchi State Command for further discreet investigation and forensic analysis.

The Commissioner of police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has formally handed over the 387 blocks of suspected Caniva Sativa to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the police command headquartres in Bauchi for further investigation.

“The Command is actively pursuing the unidentified driver to ensure accountability and prompt legal action,” CSP Wakil stated while briefing journalists on the incident.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, encourage anyone with information regarding the driver’s identity to come forward and assist in the investigation.

“The police are committed to diligently pursuing leads to identify the principal suspect.

“The Bauchi State Police Command is dedicated to maintaining peace and order in our community and urges the public to remain calm and cooperative throughout this process.

“We invite anyone with information that could aid in this investigation to contact us. We assure citizens that we are resolutely focused on ensuring justice is achieved”
