Oborevwori Honoured as South-South Governor of the Year for Visionary Leadership
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been honoured with the prestigious South-South Governor of the Year Award at the maiden edition of the Progressive Digital Media Summit and Awards, held at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The award recognises Governor Oborevwori’s outstanding achievements, visionary leadership, and commitment to digital inclusion and transparent governance across Nigeria’s South-South region. Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, the governor has made significant strides in infrastructure development, human capital investment, and public service reform through his M.O.R.E Agenda — Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
Organisers of the event praised Governor Oborevwori for his people-oriented policies, impactful projects, and responsive leadership style, noting that he stood out among his peers for effectively translating his agenda into tangible outcomes.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, Hon. Lovette Idisi — a former member of the House of Representatives and Executive Assistant to the Governor on FCT Abuja Liaison — expressed deep appreciation to the organisers. He described the honour as a reflection of Governor Oborevwori’s relentless pursuit of inclusive growth and good governance in Delta State.
“This award is yet another validation of Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to service, his commitment to improving lives, and his consistent investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment,” Idisi stated.
The Progressive Digital Media Summit also featured keynote addresses and panel discussions with key stakeholders from governance, media, technology, and civil society. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s charge at the summit — “Verify before you amplify” — was highlighted as a vital call for responsible journalism and social media usage in the face of rising misinformation and cyberbullying.
Speaking at the event, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Mr. Dada Olusegun, described the summit as a morale booster for progressive voices nationwide, adding that the enthusiasm around the Renewed Hope message underscored the power of strategic communication.
The recognition of Governor Oborevwori comes at a time of rising public approval for his administration’s performance, with many Deltans lauding his steadfast implementation of the M.O.R.E Agenda and commitment to delivering democratic dividends across all senatorial districts.
