Gombe Girl Seeks Financial Assistance To Survive Spinal Cord Injury

By Najib Sani, Gombe
A 15-year-old girl from Jauro Toudo village in Lawanti community of Akko local government area of Gombe State, Hafsat Musa, is crying out for help as she battles a debilitating spinal cord injury that has left her unable to walk.
Hafsat’s ordeal began in July last year when she fell from a tree, leaving her with severe wounds that required serious medical attention.
However, her parents’ financial struggles forced them to abandon her treatment, leading to a drastic deterioration of her condition.
As her wounds escalated, Hafsat became extremely thin and sick, with her spinal cord suspected to be damaged. The absence of her father and her mother’s psychiatric condition have exacerbated her plight.
In the meantime, the Lawanti community development foundation intervened, raising funds for her from other organisations and individuals for treatment, where they managed to pay for her blood transfusion.
Speaking with our correspondent, a member of the community, Malam Idris Abubakar, said Hafsat needs financial assistance from the general public to augment the little resources raised by them to give her proper treatment.
He revealed that currently, Hafsat lies at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe, awaiting urgent medical attention.
“Her situation is dire, and she desperately needs financial assistance to undergo the necessary tests and treatments.”, he said.
For assistance, people can reach her through the federal teaching hospital Gombe or the Lawanti Community Development Foundation.
