I am not afraid of death Nigeria’s First Lady

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said she is not afraid of death from any quarters, having attained the age of 64.

She was reacting to a viral video in which an unidentified Islamic preacher in Bauchi State said the First Lady deserved to die for her Christian faith.

The preacher also described the Muslim/Muslim ticket that brought President Bola Tinubu to power as a sham.

Reacting, Tinubu, who spoke yesterday during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwan Adamu, before inaugurating some projects in the state, clarified that she was not deterred by any death threat.

“I want to thank His Excellency (Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed),” she stated.

“He keeps assuring me that I am safe in Bauchi. But I want to say that I am too old to be afraid. If God has granted me over 60 years on earth, I shouldn’t be afraid of death.

“I thank God that you encouraged me to come. Nigeria belongs to all of us and this is the time for us to unite more than ever before.”

Governor Mohammed condemned the death threats against the First Lady, describing it as a “national embarrassment”.

Mohammed expressed dismay over the preacher’s outburst, saying the threat was outrageous.

He assured the  country’s First Lady  of her safety in the state and pledged to take appropriate action against the cleric that issued the death threat.
