Bauchi: Royal Academy of Engineering, University of Abuja organize Career To Boost Female Engineers

The Royal Academy of engineering, in collaboration with University of Abuja Higher Education Partnership Sub-Saharan Africa, Bauchi State Chapter, has organized a one day Career talk for Female Students.

The coordinator of the programme, Professor Aje Tokan, disclosed that the beneficiary school is Government Girls Secondary School, Kofar Wambai, Bauchi.

Tokan, of the Mechanical engineering at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, explained that the career talk was conducted at the School’s Examination Hall with the theme “Choosing engineering as a profession for Girls”.

He said the aim of the awareness was to instill in students the zeal to study Mechanical Engineering at a higher level.

He advised parents to allow and encourage their female children to study engineering courses at Higher institution.

Tokan added that female are needed in the field of engineering as much as their male counterparts.

Guest Speaker at the occasion, Engineer Mercy Asabe Joshua, stressed the importance of engineering in everyday life.

Joshua said there are abundant opportunities for female willing to study engineering courses in the future.

In her remarks, the Principal, school, Hajia Balkisu Ibrahim Bala appreciated the effort of Royal Academy of Engineering.

Bala and thanked the coordinator for choosing her school for the awareness.

She called on the female students to be architects of change, creators of tomorrow, and problem solvers of today.

The Principal urged the students that they prepare themelves for University education, adding that it is their duty to equip themselves with the skills that will not only secure them successful career, but also contribute to the betterment of the society.

Bala said that global demand for STEM professionals was growing fast and commitment to excellence is beyond the classroom so that the society benefits directly from them.

She called on other professionals to emulate the Royal Academy of engineering.

One of the participants, Fatima Musa Abubakar, said that the one day training has changed her thoughts about engineering, now she has understood what engineering is all about.
