The Independent Newspapers, has nominated Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for the 2023 Man of the Year award.

Steve Omanufeme, Managing Director of the Newspaper, stated this on Thursday when he formally presented the letter of nomination to the Governor.

Omanufeme said the nomination was informed by the achievements recorded by his administration  of Buni in all the sectors.

“Yours is a model of verifiable achievements in line with the philosophy of this award: celebrating trailblazers and exceptional Nigerians,” Omanufeme said.

“Your enormous humility, open-door policy, generosity, goodwill and the infrastructural revolution to meet the needs of the people under your watch are also factors that led to your nomination as the Man of the Year”

The Managing Director said the Governor’s investments in education, health, infrastructure and other sectors had singled him out as the Independent’s Man of the year.

Responding, Governor Buni thanked the Newspaper for tracking events in the state.

“I am pleased with your efforts in tracking our performances and finding me worthy for the award,” he stated.

“It is one award that l will cherish and this will spur us to do more to improve the lives of the people of Yobe state.
