Federal University Gashua commences postgraduate programmes

The Federal University Gashua,Yobe State, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence  

post-graduate and undergraduate programmes.

This was contained in a press release signed by Adamu Saleh, 

Head, Information and Protocol Unit of the University

Saleh disclosed that the programmes are to commence in the 2023/2024 academic session.

The Institution’s spokesman.said that development followed the successful resource verification of some programmes by the NUC in July 2023. 

“The approved post-graduate programmes are: M.A and Ph.D. Islamic Studies, PGD, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Accounting, M. Sc. and Ph.D. Taxation,” he said 

“Others are; PGD, M.Sc. and Ph. D. Economics, PGD Geographic Information System, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Geography, and PGD, M.Sc. MPA and Ph.D. Public Administration.

“Others are; PGD, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Chemistry, PGD, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Mathematics.

“Similarly, NUC has also approved additional undergraduate Programmes and they are; B.Sc. Microbiology, B.Ed. Guidance and Counseling, B.Ed. Educational Foundation, B. Sc. Ed. Agricultural Science and B.Ed. Primary Education.

“Others are; B.Sc. Ed. Mathematics, B. Sc. Ed. Physics, B. Sc. Ed. Chemistry, B.Sc. Ed. Biology,  B. Library and Information Science, (BLIS) and B. Ed English Language”

Saleh said that the approval for the programmes was contained in a letter from the Commission to the Vice-Chancellor of the University. 

According to him, the university received resources verification panel from the Commission in July 2023 who assessed the facilities available in the university for the commencement of the postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.

“The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maimuna Waziri, in her remarks said the introduction of post-graduate programme in the university will no doubt nurture and promote the spirit and culture of research in the university which in turn will aid national development,” Saleh said.

“She also commended members of staff for their efforts and commitment towards the success of the Resource Verification and their contributions to this great achievement and prayed  to God that FUGA will continue to grow and thrive”
