Taraba Killings: Gov Kefas Postpones Lamido Gashaka’s 10th Anniversary, Zing LGA’s 50th Anniversary as Death Toll Hits 57

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has ordered the postponement of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Lamido Gashaka, His Royal Highness Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo, following the deadly bandit attack on Binnari community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, which has claimed 57 lives.

Kefas, in a press statement signed by his Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government, Traditions and Chieftaincy, Engr Andrew Godfrey Dame, and made available to journalists in Jalingo, said the anniversary was earlier scheduled to take place on 31st October 2026.

The statement maintained that the governor further directed the postponement of the 50th anniversary of the creation of Zing Local Government Area of the state.

The statement hinted that the anniversary celebration of the creation of Zing Local Government Area was earlier scheduled for 29th October 2026.

“His Excellency the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has directed the postponement of the 10th anniversary of His Royal Highness Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo, the Lamido of Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State,” it stated.

“His 10th anniversary was earlier scheduled to take place on 31st October 2026. Similarly, the 50th anniversary of the creation of Zing Local Government Area, which was earlier scheduled for 29th October 2026, was also postponed.”

The statement informed that a new date would be announced for the two occasions.

The statement added that the governor sincerely apologised for any inconvenience this may cause.
