My Contributions to Taraba APC Earn Me Consensus Guber Ticket — Mamman

By Andrew Ojih,  Jalingo.

The former minister of power,  Engr Sale Mamman on Monday said that his commitment and contributions to the Taraba state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has placed him to be considered for Taraba Apc governorship consensus candidate.

Mamman who stated this during a telephone conversation with journalists in Jalingo hinted that his fully in support of the directive from the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress APC to  adopt direct primaries.

He maintained that allowing party members to decide candidates through direct primaries remains the most credible and democratic approach.

His position came amid internal party efforts to adopt a consensus arrangement in the forthcoming governorship primaries in Taraba state.

“I  was absent from the recent stakeholder’s meeting convened by the state governor in government house, the meeting resulted in the formation of three committees tasked with facilitating the emergence of a consensus candidate for the party” he said.

He  expressed strong skepticism about the outcome of the process, stating that the consensus initiative is unlikely to succeed.

“I urged the Taraba state chapter of the APC to strictly follow the guidance of the presidency and party leadership by prioritizing inclusivity and transparency through direct primaries” he added.

According to him, his longstanding commitment to Apc in Taraba state was instrumental in establishing the APC’s roots in Taraba state.

He stressed that his involvement back to the era of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) metamorphosed to the  APC.
