ASUU FUGA Chairman Urges Academics to Invest in NUPEMCO Recapitalisation
From Paul Orude Bauchi
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University Gashua Branch, Comrade Ali Bulama, has called on academics of the university to take advantage of the ongoing recapitalisation of Nigerian University Pension Management Company (NUPEMCO) by investing in the scheme.

Dr. Bulama made the call while addressing members of the union, urging them to see the initiative as an opportunity to strengthen their financial security and support an institution established to manage the pension interests of university staff.
He explained that NUPEMCO was created by university unions to safeguard the retirement savings of academics and other university workers, stressing that increased investment from members would enhance the company’s financial strength and ability to deliver better pension services.
According to him, the ongoing recapitalisation provides academics with a chance to become shareholders in the company while also contributing to the sustainability of the pension management firm.

The ASUU chairman therefore encouraged lecturers and other staff of the university to key into the programme and participate actively in the investment process.
He added that collective participation by academics across Nigerian universities would not only boost NUPEMCO’s capital base but also reinforce the commitment of university staff to institutions designed to serve their welfare and long-term financial stability
