Taraba PDP Congress: Chairman Alleges Fake Members Conducted Kangaroo Exercise

The Chairman of Taraba state Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Obidah Bitrus on Thursday said that some faceless individuals who conducted a kangaroo congress last Saturday are not are members of the party in Taraba state.
Obidah who disclosed this during a press conference in Jalingo rubbished reports of a parallel congress in the state.
He noted that the exercise was a kangaroo gathering with no legal standing.
Obidah who briefed journalists through his State Secretary of the party, Barrister Musa Istifanus maintained that any such congress is illegal, null and void.
He informed that the PDP structure in Taraba state remains intact and undisputed.
He highlighted that there is no vacancy in Taraba PDP office, stressing that the tenure of the current State Working Committee runs until 2028, in line with directives from the party’s National Working Committee.
He accused unnamed political rivals of attempting to stir confusion within the party, arguing that the PDP’s strong grassroots support in Taraba has made it a target for disruption.
He further dismissed claims of factional divisions, adfing that the only recognised leadership is under Comrade Obidah J. Bitrus, operating from the party’s official base in Jalingo.
He added that while individuals are free to assemble, the alleged kangaroo congress held does not represent the PDP in any form.
According to him, security agencies have been alerted to the situation, warning that any move to undermine the peace in the state would be met with the full weight of the law.
He also revealing that the PDP ongoing e-registration drive has surpassed one million members across Taraba.
He urged party supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that the leadership is committed to fairness and equal opportunity for all members.
