Aide Lauds Kefas, Alia for Setting up Joint Security Committee to End Taraba killings

The Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefes of Taraba State on Digital Economy,, Hon. Justin Aondoaseer Tyopuusu on Thursday commended his principal and his Benue state counterpart, Rev Hyacinth Alia for setting up a joint peace committee to address the recent crisis in Taraba State.
The peace committee comprise of representatives from both states to work towards finding lasting solutions to crisis in Chanchanji Ward in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba state.
Tyopuusu, in a press statement signed and made available to Journalists in Jalingo hinted that the collaborative approach reflects maturity in leadership and a clear understanding that sustainable peace requires dialogue, coordination, and shared responsibility.
“I particularly commend the two Governors for agreeing to set up a joint peace committee comprising representatives from both states to work towards lasting security solutions. This collaborative approach reflects maturity in leadership and a clear understanding that sustainable peace requires dialogue, coordination, and shared responsibility” the statement said.
The statement added that Kefas’ pledge to deploy security personnel to enable farmers return safely to their homes and farmlands as well as provide relief materials to displaced persons has restored confidence among the people.
“In moments of crisis, leadership must be visible and decisive. Governor Kefas has once again shown that the safety and welfare of citizens remain his top priority.
The renewed security assurances, cross-border cooperation, and humanitarian commitments mark a critical step toward stabilising affected communities and rebuilding trust.
I also heartily congratulate His Excellency on the successful conduct of the party’s ward, local government, and state congresses across Taraba State. The orderly and peaceful exercise reflects organisational maturity and grassroots strength.
Special congratulations to the newly elected State Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, and the State Women Leader, Margaret Mchivga, who hails from our ward, Chanchanji. Their emergence signals renewed direction and strengthened mobilisation capacity for the party. I am confident that under their leadership, unity and inclusive participation will be further consolidated.
This is a defining period for our state and the region. Peace, development, and political stability must remain our shared priorities. I urge all stakeholders to support the Governors’ peace-building efforts and work collectively toward sustainable security and progress in Taraba and Benue States” the statement highlighted.
