Taraba APC Throws Weight Behind Gov. Kefas, Tinubu’s Second-Term Bid

By Andrew Ojih, Jalingo
The Taraba State chapter of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday endorsed Governor Agbu Kefas for a second term in the 2027 governorship election.
The outgoing State Working Committee (SWC) of the party made the endorsement during a press conference at the party’s secretariat in Jalingo.
The committee also threw its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential poll.
Speaking to journalists, the SWC, led by the State Chairman of the party, Barr. Ibrahim El-Suldi, said the party’s decision to endorse Kefas and Tinubu was based on their performance and leadership qualities.
El-Suldi hinted that since Governor Kefas joined the APC, the party has worked closely with him to consolidate the realignment process in the state.
“The Governor not only embraced the leadership of the party but also ensured that our transition into the ruling party was smooth, peaceful, and devoid of rancour, contrary to experiences in some other states. This demonstrates his leadership, maturity, and statesmanship,” he said.
He highlighted that under an atmosphere of unity and cooperation, the party successfully conducted congresses across all 168 wards and 16 local government areas of the state with minimal challenges.
According to him, this followed a historic rally held in the state to formally welcome the governor into the APC, an event attended by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee, and over 10 serving governors.
He maintained that the party successfully carried out its electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise with the support of the governor, resulting in Taraba emerging as one of the highest-performing states in the exercise.
El-Suldi stressed that membership registration continues to grow steadily across councillor wards in the state.
He commended Governor Kefas for ensuring that party congresses were conducted in a free and fair manner, with due respect for ward and local government stakeholders, describing the approach as one that has strengthened unity and internal democracy within the party.
“With these milestones, we can confidently say that Taraba State is now fully integrated and firmly established as an APC state,” he said.
The committee applauded the governor for his receptive, patriotic, and hardworking leadership style, noting that his commitment to the development of Taraba State remains unquestionable.
Formally announcing the endorsement, the SWC declared its “unequivocal support” for Governor Kefas as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election, and for President Tinubu as its standard-bearer in the 2027 presidential race.
The committee called on party members and residents of Taraba State to rally behind both leaders in the interest of progress, unity, and national development.
