Presidency to Intervene as Bauchi Governor Visits Kafin Duguri After Bandit Attack Killed 4

From Paul Orude Bauchi
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has visited Kafin Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area following a deadly bandit attack that claimed the lives of four residents.
The governor, who sympathized with the affected families and the entire community, conveyed the condolences of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring residents that the Presidency would intervene to strengthen security in the area.
According to the governor, he had briefed the President in Abuja on the security situation in Duguri axis, particularly the activities of armed bandits operating from the Daji Madam area, noting that local security forces were overwhelmed and required enhanced support.
“The President has asked me to convey his condolences to you. He is with you, and as the Commander-in-Chief, he has taken note of what happened here and is ready to intervene,” the governor said.
Governor Mohammed praised the courage and resilience of the Kafin Duguri people, describing their resistance against heavily armed bandits as uncommon bravery.
“You faced attackers with superior weapons and over 100 motorcycles armed with AK-47 rifles. Despite the odds, many of them were neutralized and forced to flee. This shows courage, character, and commitment to your ancestral land,” he added.
He noted that although Bauchi State had recorded significant success in curbing banditry in areas such as Tafawa Balewa, Toro, Ningi, Ganjuwa, Jama’are and parts of Bauchi metropolis, the persistence of attacks in Duguri—his ancestral area—was deeply painful.
The governor assured that the state government would work closely with security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to ensure the safety of residents and the welfare of families of the deceased.
He also reaffirmed government commitment to infrastructure development in the area, citing ongoing road construction linking Mansur to Kafin Duguri, undertaken jointly by the state and federal governments.
Security chiefs, including the Commissioner of Police, other security agencies, the Emir of Duguri, and traditional leaders, were present during the visit and briefed the governor on the incident.
Governor Mohammed concluded by assuring the community that government actions would follow due process and rules of engagement to avoid exposing residents to further danger.
He was in company with the Commissioner of Police Sani Omolori Aliyu and heads of security agencies based in the state on the condolence visit.
