2027: M.A Abubakar Group Calls for APC Unity Ahead of Bauchi Governorship Election

By Paul Orude Bauchi
The M.A. Abubakar Grassroots Mobilisation Project has called on members of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State to unite and work collectively towards securing victory for the party in the forthcoming governorship election.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the group, Dr. Sunusi Magaji, alongside the Secretary, Prof. Ahmed Garba Salisu, and other members including Dr. Sulaiman Malami, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, Barrister Umar Faruq Ahmed Gwadabe, and Shamsuddeen M. Salihu.
The group congratulated all APC flagbearers who emerged from the recent party’s primary elections.
It particularly congratulated the APC governorship candidate, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, describing his emergence as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership, experience, and commitment to the development of Bauchi State.
According to the statement, the conclusion of the primaries marks the beginning of a more important task—ensuring APC’s victory at the polls.
“The primary election process is over. The focus now should be on unity and collective action towards winning the general election,” the group stated.
It urged party members to put aside grievances arising from the primaries and embrace reconciliation, stressing that democracy thrives on competition and that all aspirants contributed to strengthening the party.
The group acknowledged that while Abubakar’s first tenure as governor recorded notable achievements alongside some challenges, he deserves another opportunity to serve the state.
It expressed confidence that a second tenure under Abubakar would bring transformational development in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, security, workers’ welfare, and support for traditional institutions.
The mobilisation project also outlined its objectives, which include promoting party unity and reconciliation, mobilising grassroots support for the APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, as well as strengthening voter engagement and political awareness across the state.
The group further pledged to empower youths and women to participate actively in governance and political leadership while helping to build a stronger APC structure capable of delivering electoral success at all levels.
It called on APC leaders, elders, women groups, youths, and support organisations to close ranks and work together in the interest of the party and Bauchi State.
“The time for contest is over. The time for unity, reconciliation, and mobilisation is now,” the statement added.
