Bauchi Gov’t Spends over N2 billion on Ramadan Palliatives

Bauchi State Government in collaboration has spent over N2 billion to procure Ramadan items for distribution to beneficiaries across the state.
Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed this while inaugurating the distribution of the items at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi, on Thursday.
Mohammed said the move was aimed at ensuring citizens have access to relieve materials to alleviate their suffering.
He said 150 thousand bags of food items would be distributed as Ramadan items across the 20 local government areas of the state.
The exercise, which is a collaboration between the state and federal government, is targeting beneficiaries across all the 323 wards as Ramadan Palliative, he said.
Mohammed disclosed that over N2 billion was expended in procuring the items.
He said a high powered committee was constituted to ensure judicious distribution of the palliative.
The Governor solicited for more support and prayers towards overcoming the current economic hardship.
He expressed the commitment of his administration to the welfare of citizens.
In her remark, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka said the Ramadan palliative would also be distributed to civil servants, security personnel, civil society organizations, orphans and Vulnerable groups.
The Ramadan items procured include 40,000 bags of Maize, 40,000 bags of millet, 20,000 bags of Rice, and 10,000 bags of Sugar.
