Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th national assembly, a youth pressure group known as ‘Progressive Young Leaders Initiative’ has endorsed the spokesperson of the 9th Federal House of Representatives Honourable Benjamin Kalu as the next speaker.

Addressing journalists yesterday, the coordinator of the group Comrade Hassan A. Ahmad, opined that selecting Kalu who hails from the south eastern part of the country as the speaker of the legislative house will bring fairness and equity in the nation’s polity as the president is from the west and vice president comes from the north.

Hassan added that Kalu’s speakership will also address the complaints of marginalization by the south eastern compatriots and foster unity among the countrymen.

Aside from bringing equity, the group stated that the chairman house committee on media and public affairs has the requisite experience to lead the lower chamber of the national assembly.

“After we carefully observed and studied the political events of the 2023 general elections that just concluded, we are now concerned with the 10th National Assembly leadership and unity of this great nation.

“We are here today to publicly endorse Benjamin Kalu as speaker of the 10th Assembly because of his experience, capacity, capability, and for fairness and equity.

“Kalu is a symbol of unity and a pan Nigerian. Benjamin Kalu’ speakership will provide a level playing ground for the incoming administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu to move Nigeria forward”. He said.
