Barrister Kefas Musa Magaji, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa-Balewa Federal Constituency in the Saturday February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, has vowed to challenge the result at the Election Petition Triibunal to reclaim his mandate.

Tbe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Leko Gambo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Federal Constituency election in Bauchi State.

Leko was endorsed few days to the election by the incumbent member representing the constituency, former Speaker Yakubu Dogara as the most competent candidate for the people of the area to vote for.

Announcing the result in Bununu town on Monday, at the headquarters of Tafawa Balewa local government, the Returning Officer, Professor Bala Dalhat from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi said the APC candidate polled 54,128 votes to defeat his closest rival, Barrister Kefas Magaji of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 52,314 votes.

Magaji has refused to accept the result of the election and has promised to challenge it legally, urging his supporters to remain calm and law abiding in the process..

“I want to use this medium to profusely thank everyone for the excellent support I have enjoyed so far,” he said.

“It is not because I am good enough to deserve same, but you have chosen to show me support in spite of my weaknesses, I am truly grateful”.

He further said there is a movement in support of entrenching peace in the constituency for economic empowerment and collective growth irrespective of ethnic and religious differences.

He lamented that someone has decided to arrogate to himself as the only leader to be revered, saying “we remain resolute to revere God only”

“With the outcome of the election result, we are set to challenge it in the Election Petition Tribunal in order to reclaim our mandate,” he said.

Magaji appealed to people of his constituency to remain calm and law abiding, because victory is certainly their own.

“l have been told how some people were harassed on account of the recent happenings, I appeal to our supporters involved in such actions to immediately stop same”

Magaji called on people to support him in their quest for self determination, because “they”we must continue together.”
