Nigerian soldiers have been deployed to Aladja community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State to maintain peace.

The development followed alarm by the Aladja residents that the people of Ogbe-Ijoh community in Warri South-West Local Government of the state were allegedly shooting sporadically at their (Aladja) community on Friday morning

A resident of Alaska community, Ufuoma Omojirhe, said soldiers  have arrived the community after tension mounted over renewed hostility between Aladja and the people of Ogbe-Ijoh community in Warri South-West Local Government.

Omojirhe told our correspondent that heavy shootings were heard sporadically at their (Aladja) community.

The renewed hostility between the two communities in Udu Local Government Area  came as the 7-day ultimatum they handed to the State Boundary demarcation committee to replace buildings allegedly destroyed in the area came to an end.

He said the attempt to demarcate boundary by the committee at a spot chosen to bring peace to the warring communities had triggered heavy shooting from the people of Ogbe-Ijor.

Omojirhe said no one is injured but the presence of the military has brought some relief to the people of Aladja as fear had pervaded  the community over the sporadic shootings.

He commended the prompt deployment of the army to the area and appeal to the Delta State Government to come to the rescue of the people of Aladja community by finding a lasting solution  to the crisis between the two communities.
