Police arrest two members of vigilante for alleged rape of housewife in Bauchi

Two members of a vigilante have been arrested by police in Bauchi State have been arrested for allegedly raping a house wife at gunpoint.

The two suspects allegedly committed the crime at Dogon-ruwa village in Ningi local government area of the state.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Mohammed Wakil made the revelation in a press statement he issued on Tuesday.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police (SP), explained that police detectives attached to Ningi Division arrested the two suspects after a distress call from the area.

He said the two suspects,  Lawali Sule,30, and Babangida Shehu,30, would be charged to court for criminal conspiracy and rape.

They allegedly carried out the criminal act on August, 25, 2022 at about 2:00 am, the statement disclosed.

“The two suspects conspired among themselves and stormed the house of one Alhaji Gare, all armed with dane-guns,” it said.

“They broke into his wife’s room one Hadiza Alhaji (not real name) and asked her husband’s whereabouts, but he was not at home. 

“Thereafter they threatened her with a gun with the view to have canal knowledge of her and she succumbed out of fear.

“A discreet investigation commenced in earnest  The victim was evacuated to the General hospital Ningi for medical examination and confirmed the penetration.

 “During the investigation, the suspects voluntary confessed to the crime.

“The exhibits recovered from the suspects were two Dane-guns”

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police  has directed that the suspects be charged to court.

In a related development, Wakil said police of the command have arrested a man aged 27 who allegedly raped a three year old girl.

He said the incident occured August 24, 2022 at about 1100 am when the suspect, Mato Yohanna of Jimbin village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area was arrested by the detectives  after he allegedly had canal knowledge with a three year old girl (names withheld)

“During the investigation, the suspect confessed to have raped minors for the second time,” Wakil said.

Wakil said the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution
