The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, for allegedly attempting to murder her husband by poisoning his food in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at about 3:15pm.

The suspect, who had reportedly been married for about 40 days, allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.

The police said a distress call was later received at about 7:40pm from an anonymous woman residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi, reporting the alleged poisoning.

Operatives of the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, reportedly responded swiftly to the incident and evacuated the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and, according to the police, made a confessional statement during interrogation, admitting to the alleged offence.

Police said an empty bottle suspected to have contained poison, as well as remnants of the food, were recovered and registered as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet and thorough investigation.

The police said the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.

The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
