Bauchi 2027: Ex – Governor Mohammed Abubakar Clinches APC Guber Ticket

Ex governor  Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, has been declared as the winner of the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election for Bauchi State.

The declaration was made in the early hours of Saturday, May 23 by the Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee Assistant Inspector General of Police, John Bassey Abang (retired).

Abang stated that the governorship primary was conducted on Friday, May 22 across the State after which the results were collated by the officers assigned.

He announced that Mohamed Abdullahi Abubakar, polled a total of 57,517 votes to defeat Six other aspirants who participated in the exercise.

He also announced that the immediate-past Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, scored 26,001 votes, while Nura Manu Soro polled 13,638 votes,  Bala Maijama’a A. Wunti,  polled 13,648 votes, and Kabir Baba Ma’aji, who polled 8,157 votes, Baba Abubakar Suleiman scored 7,688 votes while  Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi scored 7,181 votes.

Abang stated that Abubakar, having polled the highest number of votes cast, was duly returned as the winner of the APC governorship primary election in Bauchi State.”

Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar served as Governor of Bauchi State from 2015 to 2019 on the APC platform when he defeated the current Deputy Governor of the State, Rt Hon Mohammed Awwal Jatau, who was then the gubernatorial candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In 1999, Abubakar lost his re-election bid to Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

As the APC’s flag bearer in the 2027 governorship election M.A. Abubakar  seeks a return to office for a second term.
