The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Misau, Bauchi State, Dr. Abdu Rufai Dashi, has expressed deep appreciation to the Minister of Health and Social Development, Muhammad Ali Pate, for his pivotal role in the establishment and rapid development of the centre.

Speaking in an interview with our correspondent in Bauchi, Dashi described the creation of FMC Misau as a major milestone in improving healthcare delivery, not only for residents of Bauchi State but also for the wider North-East region and beyond.

He commended the minister for his sustained support, noting that the facility has witnessed significant expansion within a short period. According to him, the centre now boasts a fully functional dialysis unit, established through the minister’s intervention.

Dashi further highlighted that FMC Misau has successfully set up a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a Special Care Baby Unit, both of which are critical in reducing infant and child mortality rates.

He added that other key developments include the establishment of a functional physiotherapy department, comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care (CEmONC) services, as well as integration into the National Emergency Medical and Ambulance System (NEMSAS).

In addition, the centre has made strides in healthcare education with the establishment of a College of Nursing, which has secured accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to commence both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) nursing programmes.

Dashi reaffirmed the centre’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare services while continuing to expand its capacity to meet the growing needs of the population
